What are the advantages of enameled steel?

With its vintage side, enamelled steel gives kitchens trendy colors. It offers rapid heating and comfort of use.

The advantages of enamelled steel for cooking:

- suitable for all types of fires including induction,
- light, resistant, of neutral material,
- heats easily, it has good thermal conductivity,
- easy to maintain,
- this material is recyclable.

What is enameled steel?

Enamelled steel brings back many memories; the red teapot on the stove, the orange pots on the flame in which good dishes or soups simmered or the fryer ... These cooking objects still have their place in our modern kitchens and are gradually regaining our cupboards.

Steel and enamel form a high-performance, resistant, durable, healthy and recyclable combination. Together, they ensure good heat distribution, a rapid rise in temperature and resist thermal shocks. Enamel enhances steel and significantly increases its lifespan. Its hard, smooth and shiny surface resists abrasion, does not absorb odors, does not trap bacteria and makes cleaning easy. Enamelled steel has the advantage of being light, thus offering ease of handling while being compatible with induction at an affordable price.

The natural composition of enamelled steel:

Robust

The steel composed of iron and carbon withstands high temperatures, offers a rapid rise in heating. The iron contained in the steel has the particularity of accelerating the Maillard effect, ideal for searing and grilling meat while keeping it juicy and tender. Only "downside" is that it is often criticized for its possible oxidation if it is not cheeky and maintained as it should. The enamel will protect it against it.

Unalterable

Enamel results, in short, from the melting of glass, called sintering, at very high temperature (1200/1400 ° C). The result obtained, the glass frits, are then crushed and sieved so that the enamel can be applied to the steel. It is important to emphasize that since the end of the 90s, food enamel no longer contains lead, meeting strict international regulations. It is a healthy and neutral coating with high resistance.
Its properties offer protection against rust, acid and saline attacks ... and also allow it to withstand various low (- 60 ° C) or high temperatures.

Enamelling

It is done on a thin steel plate which receives several layers of enamel then the whole is baked at high temperature (around 800 ° C).
